An emerald-and-gold birthday that keeps things simple
An emerald-and-gold celebration suits a teen who wants a birthday, not a character theme. For eight friends, put the effort into comfortable seating, food and a few thoughtful details. Conversation notebooks and a shared message poster are invitations to join in, not scheduled games everyone must complete.
A little structure, with room to adapt.
Agree the broad plan with the birthday teen: when friends arrive, when food is ready and when pickup happens. Keep the middle of the party open. Some guests may write or decorate while others talk; nobody needs to explain personal answers to the room.

How to run the activities
1. Conversation notebook corner
Gather: Eight small notebooks, shared pens and optional prompt slips.
- Put out three low-pressure prompts: a place you would like to spend a day, a skill you would like to try, and an ordinary moment worth remembering.
- Guests can write privately, talk with a friend or ignore the prompts. Keep notebooks closed unless their owner wants to share.
- Leave blank pages for drawings and lists. There is no required turn around the table and no collection of answers.
2. A page of good wishes
Gather: One large cream sheet and green, gold-coloured and black markers.
- Ask the birthday teen whether they would like a shared keepsake. If yes, leave paper on a side table for short messages or abstract shapes.
- Guests add something whenever they feel like it. Leave others’ work intact and do not require signatures.
- Let the birthday teen decide where the finished page goes and whether it is photographed.
3. Make the welcome feel personal
Gather: Ingredient-labelled snacks, reusable cups and plain paper place cards.
- Let the birthday teen choose a simple snack selection and put serving utensils with each bowl. Keep packaging for ingredient questions.
- Offer blank cards for guests to mark their cup or seat. No seating chart is needed unless the group wants one.
- Keep water easy to find and refill food in small amounts. An adult handles any hot serving dishes.
Before the doorbell rings
- Agree the guest list, finish time and broad plan together.
- Use a few emerald and gold details around comfortable seating.

- Keep ingredient information with the food.
Keep the cake achievable
A plain cake with emerald piping and edible gold-coloured sprinkles is enough. Confirm decorations are sold as edible; decorative metallic craft dust is not a baking ingredient.
If plans change
If writing feels too formal, put the notebooks out as take-home gifts and let the party be food and conversation. A familiar board game is an optional extra, not a compulsory activity.

Emerald and Gold Conversation Notebook
For eight guests: Eight A6 notebooks, emerald wrapping paper, sixteen gold sticker seals, thin ribbon and eight folded prompt sheets.
- Put a folded prompt sheet inside each notebook before wrapping. Try a place to visit, a new skill to learn and a moment worth remembering.
