Welcome families, point out water and the toilet, and offer paper and crayons while guests arrive. This 90-minute example is for ages 5–7.

Brush-and-reveal fossil dig

Draw ten different fossils on palm-sized card and bury five in each tray of loosely torn paper. Keep the trays on tables; use paper without staples or sharp edges.

Rebuild the giant dinosaur

Draw a simple side-view dinosaur skeleton on the first sheet, with a spine, ribs, four legs, head and tail. Photograph it, then cut the sheet into ten large jigsaw pieces before the party.

Food and water

Serve the food prepared before arrival, check dietary needs and use separate utensils for alternatives. Leave time for water, conversation and a breather.

Dinosaur freeze band

Demonstrate stomping gently on the spot, reaching for leaves and swaying a dinosaur tail. Offer seated arm movements too.

Offer a birthday song, remove cake toppers and serve portions. An adult handles candles and cutting.
